WEEKEND BOX OFFICE 9/27-9/29

This weekend was a fairly slow weekend The family film CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2 stole the weekend making $35 million while the crime thriller Prisoner came in at a distant second making a little over $11 Million. Rounding out the top five were new films BAGGAGE CLAIM and DON JON making a little over. $9 Million. Lastly Lee Daniels historical drama THE BUTLER remains in the top 10 after 7 weeks at the box office

NEW MOVIE THINGS NEVER SAID REVIEW

I was able to watch the new film Things Never Said Starring Shanola Hampton, Omari Hardwick, Elimu Nelson and Tamala Jones. The Film is about a young woman named Kalindra who is in a stalled marriage with a washed up wannabe athlete and finds her only escape from her mundane life is through performing her poetry. Kalindra meets a fan named Curtis Jackson who turns her world upside down.

I loved this film, to me it was not predictable at all, and as soon as I thought I had the plot figured out the film went in another direction. It’s a very poetic love story that ends with a great message, a film like this from a majority black cast has not been made in a long time  This film was moving and inspirational. The poems were great to hear.

Shanola Hampton who portrays Kalindra is very photogenic on screen. Her beauty is Impeccable. Her performance was great and I love her scenes with Omari Hardwick. Every since I saw the film Next Day Air I have been a fan of Omari Hardwick and in this film he gives another convincing performance as Curtis Jackson who falls hard for Kalindra but he himself has a dark past.

ACTOR ISAIAH WASHINGTON NEW FILM

 

Actor Isiah Washington  (Grey's Anatomy) will be starring in a biopic about the DC Sniper and his relationship with  Lee Boyd Malvo. He will be portraying the criminal John Allen Muhammad and Tequan Richmond (Everybody Hates Chris) will portray the young Lee Boyd Malvo.

The Film is scheduled to be released Tomorrow September 13, 2013. According to Box Office Mojo the film will only be in 1 theater. I hope this is not true but if so I hope this film will be in wider release very soon.

TAYE DIGGS TALKS ABOUT HIS 2 NEW MOVIES

Taye Diggs takes about how he was excited about getting back with the cast of The Best Man. He states that with the help of the other cast mates and the same director they were able to get easily back into the groove. He also talks about his role in the new film Baggage Claim and how he enjoyed playing a character out of his normal realm.

Premiering on Fox on Monday's Starting September 16, 2013 will be the new show Sleepy Hollow. It is a modern version of  "The Legend of Sleep Hollow" Nicole Beharie ( American Violet/ 42 ) and Orlando Jones (Drumline/MADtv) will be starring in the new show. So check it out.

50 CENT'S IS PRODUCING A NEW SHOW

Rapper/Actor/Author/Businessman Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson will be producing a new called POWER. The show will focus on a wealthy night club owner who is a drug lord on the side. The Lead actor will for the show will be actor Omari Hardwick. The show is scheduled to premiere at the beginning of 2014 on the Starz Network.

BAGGAGE CLAIM INTERVIEW: PAULA PATTON, LAUREN LONDON, JENIFER LEWIS

I am anticipating the release of David E. Talbert’s Baggage Claim coming out September 27, 2013. I was able to view an interview with the star of the film Paula Patton along with the legendary Jenifer Lewis and The beautiful Lauren London.

This was one of the best interviews I have seen with a film cast in a long time. I am a fan of acting and love the art of acting and in this compelling interview. Jenifer Lewis and Paula Patton give great pointers on acting. I agree with Paula Patton that film is the best art form because it combines all of forms of art photography, music, sound, visuals, editing, writing, etc.

I also love this interview because you see the dynamics amongst the 3 actresses and they genuinely like being in each other’s presence and once they ladies realize that the interview will not be edited Jenifer Lewis will give you big laughs in her response.

If you love the art of acting or are an aspiring actor check out this interview and learn for those who are already in the industry or if you are a fan of one or all actresses like I am check out this interview.

NEW WEBSERIES THE MARRIAGE TOUR.

I just learned about a new webseries called The Marriage Tour. Its a new series about black love and relationships. The show is short but funny and creative. I love how the characters tell their thoughts to the camera. Its refreshing to see a show with black actors showing the ups and downs of relationships. I hope this show continues to make new episodes and It's my prayer that the show will continue to gain fans.
