I just finished watching a great independent film called In the Hive. It has an all-star cast featuring Loretta Devine, Michael Clarke Duncan, Vivica A. Fox and Jonathan McDaniel.
The plot of the film is about a young man named Xtra Keyz who is a troubled kid who comes from a very troubled family and whose last hope is to attend an alternative school called the hive.
I felt the film while yet predictable at times had some really get messages in the movie. For those who have a soft heart at the theaters, this film will definitely tug at your heart.
Just about the whole entire cast gives great performances. I loved Vivca A. Fox portrayal as a loose mother who is broken and selfish. Michael Clark Duncan and Loretta Devine are great at playing tough but caring teachers at the school. Lastely and certain not least Jonathan McDaniel gives a hell of a performance as the troubled youth. My favorite scene with him in the film is when he visit's his father in prison for the second time.
